The words hidden in the lines read look me in the eyes. It is a simple demand, but also one of the hardest things to do. True eye contact feels direct, almost exposing, as if you are seen more deeply than you would like.

This painting plays with that tension. The face is built out of coded patterns, but the message is clear. It asks the viewer to pause and return the gaze, even if just for a moment.
