This piece is part of the Tienqa Shell Spread, an art project where one thousand shells are released into the world to create unexpected encounters with art. Over three hundred shells have already been placed, which means the number available is steadily decreasing.
Each shell was collected by hand from the beach, then washed and dried with care. Every single one was painted by hand with the recognizable Tienqa pattern and marked with a unique number and Tienqa tag. No two shells are the same, so you will always receive a one-of-a-kind artwork.
The image shown is only an example. The shell you receive will always look different in shape and pattern, which is exactly what makes this work special.
